Trivex is used to allow us to more adequately and effectively
remove vein clusters separate from the saphenous. Small isolated
segments of vein can be easily removed in the office setting under
local anesthesia. This is called phlebectomy and give cosmetically
very pleasing results. Larger segments are difficult to isolate
in this manner. Trivex, which is done under a short general anesthesia,
allows us to use a fiberoptic light to transilluminate the veins
under the skin. Very precise vein removal is then done with a
suction device (similar to liposuction). Few incisions are necessary
and most are nearly invisible once complete healing occurs.
